Dry Tortugas National Park - Wall Art

The principal attraction at this Park is Fort Jefferson, a long ago bulwark in our nation's defense. The fort was built as a resupply base and staging area for Navy ships to patrol the Gulf of Mexico and Straits of Florida. While never fully finished as originally designed, construction of the fort ensued from 1846 to 1875. Additionally, the Park consists of a total of seven islands and is the westernmost of the Florida Keys. The Park lies sixty-eight miles west of Key West, Florida. There is an abundance of sea life, tropical birds, and coral reefs. (Source: National Park Service) When I visited in January 2015, they also had one crocodile as a "resident." The prevalent theory was that it had been washed seaward from the Florida mainland during a previous hurricane.
