Description
The T-33 is an aircraft that was the first jet flown operationally by the United States Air Force. Today, Gregory "Wired" Colyer, who has also created a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that seeks to preserve the history of this type aircraft, flies this T-33. (Source: http://www.acemaker33.com)
"Wired" performs at air shows across the country. This image was taken during his excellent demonstration during the Langley Air Show performed on April 23 & 24, 2016, at Langley Air Force Base, Virginia.
I hold the T-33 dear, as it was the first Air Force jet in which I ever flew. While attending ROTC Summer Camp at Otis AFB, Massachusetts, in the summer of 1967, I was afforded the great opportunity of getting a backseat "ride" in one. I was elated throughout this exciting flight and for some time to come, as it was my introduction to aileron rolls, loops, and other fantastic aerobatics. Then, I went on to have my Air Force wings pinned on me in June 1970.
Most such aircraft seen at air shows have had their nose art, logos, and such trademarked and/or copyrighted, as is the case with this T-33. However, permission has been obtained to market my photographs as prints in exchange for providing any images used free of charge for promotional use. A number of other products may be purchased from "Wired" and his organization by using his website noted above.
Also, check this website to learn more about the T-33 and to check on any upcoming performances at air shows in your area. You will not be disappointed!
