Description
Mabry Mill at Mile Post 176 on the Blue Ridge Parkway is one of the iconic images of Virginia. The gristmill, which later served also as a sawmill, was built in 1903. In autumn, the scene becomes vibrant with the oranges, reds, yellows, browns, and other hues of fall foliage for a short period of time. However, the winds in this area tend to knock down the colorful leaves in short order, as may be seen in this image to some extent. I was most fortunate to plan a trip in mid-October 2014 that coincided with the height of autumn colors.
