Description
When attending a "Winter in Yellowstone" photo workshop in January 2016 conducted by noted nature photographers, John and Barbara Gerlach, tickets were provided to visit the Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center in West Yellowstone, Montana. This is an accredited not-for-profit wildlife and educational facility, which has excellent viewing areas. This image was taken of a gray wolf (Canis lupus) during an intermittent snowfall. Thus some water droplets may be seen in the wolf's hair. The gray wolf is also called a timber wolf, or western wolf. In 1991, Congress directed the reintroduction of wolves into Yellowstone National Park. This particular wolf was born in captivity at another facility, but it was moved to this center in order to provide optimum care for it. Images of animals in such environments are not usually considered to be in the public domain for the sale of such. However, after speaking with a representative of the Center, an agreement was obtained for which any image that I exhibit for sale will be provided to the Center for their use free of charge, with attribution, for possible use in their promotional materials.
