Description
When camping at Cades Cove in Great Smoky Mountains National Park, I spent part of one day touring some of the old buildings in this isolated valley on the Tennessee side of the Park. The first Europeans settled in the Cove between 1818 and 1821, with the population growing to close to three hundred by 1830. (Source: National Park Service) This working gristmill has been nicely restored. A one-second exposure captured the rotation of the mill's wheel being powered by water.
