Description

One morning in April 2011, I had been assigned to shoot on the National Mall in conjunction with a workshop that I was attending at National Geographic headquarters. I rose well before dawn and headed for The Wall, the memorial to those in our military service who gave their lives in Southeast Asia. I was alone that morning and enjoyed the solitude. The only addition to the scene was a beautiful floral arrangement that had apparently been left at the memorial late the previous evening, or in the early morning's darkness.
